Day 10: Parallel Days


 Today, Linda, Jane and I went on separate adventures: 

Linda and Jane onto Challis and Stanley. I stayed at our air bnb in Pocatello. 

Linda sent me these pictures from her Challis Hot springs site: 



I spent the evening with my nephew Derrel and his family. Derrel fixed a fabulous dinner of pulled pork and three different salads (potato, corn and green)
Derrel Jr., his wife Marlee and little Boden came from Idaho Falls as did Caitlin: 
Marlee and Derrel. Marlee knows Jeannie and her family from Rigby. She grew up with Jeannie's grandkids:) 

This picture does not do justice to Boden. I'm posting an auxiliary post for him as I can't seem to put videos successfully here.

Day Three: Yellowstone

 Day Three: Linda and I had to get up at 3:15!!! in the morning to get to the Old Faithful Inn for our Photo Safari Trip. It was a four hour tour on "The Yellow Bus". Steve and I had done that years ago and I want to have the same experience. This was different because it was really focused on great photo spots, with wildlife as a plus one:) We learned all kinds of different techniques: black and white  A group of trees on the road and then laying on the ground shooting up.  We also learned how to use different options under "live" and then slow motion:  We then learned how to use the loop feature, which keeps the picture moving without using video:  All very cool. We DID see some wildife. Zoom in to see the wolf!!! Linda and I saw that on our own!  Zoom in to see him! Of couse we saw buffalo, etc. But the wolf was a highlight. Day 11: I meet my Bergendorf Family

 Well, there are not quite words to express what today meant to me. How do you describe what closure feels like for myself and as I realized, for my Bergendorf family as well?  Yet closure is what we realized today. We met at Fremont Park. We all arrived at about the same time for a potluck picnic. Instantly, I felt like I had come home. We met, we hugged, we shared what we knew about my mom and her four brothers. We shared stories about our own lives. I took lots of pictures.  Harley and I had connected a few years back on ancestry but at the time I was looking for Lois Hutchings (my mother's first marriage name) He didn't know that name but he thought she might be a Bergendorf that the family had lost track of after WWII. Come to find out, her brothers looked for her their whole lives, never finding out what happened to her. Keri, who is the daughter of one of the brother' Harry's son, Craig, reached out to me on Ancestry as she was looking for her Aunt Lois.  Fast...

Day Five: Jackson, WY and Togwotee Mountain Lodge

 Today was very interesting! We woke up to light sleet/snow and are ending the day with real snow falling at Togwotee Mountain Lodge. We are about 35 minutes past where we have been staying in the Grand Tetons.  We went into Jackson today, walked around window shopping and noticed we could take a tram to the top of one of the surrounding peaks at Teton Village. It was a crazy day! It was absolutely freezing at the top of the peak with blowing winds and snow! We are now cozy in our lodge...but it is snowing! So we will see what tomorrow brings.  Of course we found a winery!  Getting on the tram Oh, it is freezing up there. Time for something warm! Beautiful wildflowers everywhere Oxbow Bend Heading down from Tram ride at Teton Village. It was freezing up there! We are trying to do something new and adventurous each day.
