Day Six: Fantastic Hike then ending the day with a dinner cruise!
We had the most beautiful, breathtaking hike today. We started at String Lake and hiked the north side of Jenny Lake to Hidden Falls on the way to Inspiration Point. The hike was 5 miles round trip. We knew we had hiked at the end of that hike! So very worth it and beautiful. We got back in time for a boat cruise starting at Colter Bay Marina. There were two groups: 32 on the one boat but only 21 on ours. We cruised across Jackson Lake to Elk Island. There, awaiting us were long picnic tables covered with tables clothes overlooking a field of lupine. We got in line for a salad, watermelon, corn bread first offering then the main course: steak, seared trout, potatoes, corn and beans. All was delicious except the steak. I had only taken a small piece because I wanted to try it but it was WELL done. I forgot how that is preferred in this part of the country. It wasn't tough, just I don't like steak that way and we hardly eat it. I should have just stuck to the trout! They had a rich brownie chocolate cake with a dollop of whip cream on top. All was beautiful and great. We met interesting people from Indiana and Texas. Older couple like me from Indiana and two 27 year olds darling couple from Texas, here celebrating her birthday. The pictures for the hike are in order, starting at String Lake.
